As Predicted

2:30 am and I'm rarin' to go. Foo. It's also very cold in here. Or maybe I'm just jittery from the caffeine. Anyhoo.

Real Question

Do quotes inside of parens inside of quotes inside of parens require the single quote treatment?

e.g.

(“In the Commission's view, however, a person who is only regarded as having a disability is not entitled to a reasonable accommodation. See Howard v. Widnall, Appeal No. 01931905, at 7 (EEOC May 12, 1994)… (person who is merely regarded as having a disability “does not require reasonable accommodation”). Such a person must therefore prove that she is able to do the job without accommodation.”)

So many things.

1. My roommate is an old man who needs a hearing aid and he's watching Annie in his room at about 100 decibels.

2. PARVATI, are you KIDDING me?

3. Poor Erik.

4. James moved in. Not James from Survivor, James from SE Portland.

5. I have officially taken my last law school final ever and an quite confident that I will get my usual string of B's.

6. I hate that stuff like Bs looks better like B's, when really there shouldn't be an apostropher.

7. I've had about half a pot of coffee since 8pm which is why I'm making lists, blogging, and going to be up till 4am.

8. The EEOC is not giving me the information I need on their website.

9. Holy crap I'm only 24 hours away from being TOTALLY done with law school.

10. My graduation cap is funny. I heard people threatening to wear them to their finals but didn't see any such silliness.

11. I'm up to thirty (30) foster kitties under my belt (not literally, at least not now). That's totally old news but I'm hyper.

12. Anything else? Maybe more in an hour.

Rescued at 6:45, gone at 12:45

I rushed out to SE at 6:30 tonight to pick up at kitty that was "dying." Unfortunately, she actually was. I gave her sugar water, formula, and flea treatment, but she was too far gone. She's now buried under my rose bush.

The 2007 TV Season

I've been totally disappointed with the premieres of the many, many shows I watch. While they were all "good enough", none of them had the razzle dazzle that was promised to me in the previews. Very disappointed. I did pick up a new show, which I almost refused to watch because of the title - Dirty Sexy Money. But I can't resist a Sport's Night character and it did look moderately entertaining. They've tried to weave in this bizarre murder mystery plot, which I don't think will carry the show, and the acting between husband Nick and his wife is ridiculous, but I'm going to keep watching for all the other fun bits. At least for now. Did anyone else watch the first few episodes?

Oh, and Survivor. It's really getting old.

Working for the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office

I'm a legal intern with the Multnomah County DA and loving almost every minute of it. The moments I don't love are when I say something ridiculous in front of a judge because I'm caught off guard when s/he asks for a release argument, and when the court clerk chases me out of JC4 and tells me I've gone behind her back when I thought I was just doing what my boss told me. Also, I apparenlty can't jaywalk within 6 blocks of the courthouse in a suit. This amuses me greatly, but also saddens me since jaywalking enhances my sense of Portland pride. Alas, the pursuit of justice comes as a cost (don't forget to include suits, parking, and expensive downtown lunches).

The Kittens - RIP, cuties.

Here are the babies. I had them for 8 days before the one on the far right died quite suddenly. Three days later the other two became sick. I worried it was distemper, and it was, and the other two died as well. They were very, very sweet kittens. In addition to that great sadness, having had kittens with distemper in my house means I can't have any more orphans; distemper lives for years at room temperature and is extremely contagious. Given my job, school, my A paper, and the bar, it was probably time to turn in my foster-badge anyway, but that only makes it marginally better.
