Rescued at 6:45, gone at 12:45

I rushed out to SE at 6:30 tonight to pick up at kitty that was "dying." Unfortunately, she actually was. I gave her sugar water, formula, and flea treatment, but she was too far gone. She's now buried under my rose bush.

The 2007 TV Season

I've been totally disappointed with the premieres of the many, many shows I watch. While they were all "good enough", none of them had the razzle dazzle that was promised to me in the previews. Very disappointed. I did pick up a new show, which I almost refused to watch because of the title - Dirty Sexy Money. But I can't resist a Sport's Night character and it did look moderately entertaining. They've tried to weave in this bizarre murder mystery plot, which I don't think will carry the show, and the acting between husband Nick and his wife is ridiculous, but I'm going to keep watching for all the other fun bits. At least for now. Did anyone else watch the first few episodes?

Oh, and Survivor. It's really getting old.

Working for the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office

I'm a legal intern with the Multnomah County DA and loving almost every minute of it. The moments I don't love are when I say something ridiculous in front of a judge because I'm caught off guard when s/he asks for a release argument, and when the court clerk chases me out of JC4 and tells me I've gone behind her back when I thought I was just doing what my boss told me. Also, I apparenlty can't jaywalk within 6 blocks of the courthouse in a suit. This amuses me greatly, but also saddens me since jaywalking enhances my sense of Portland pride. Alas, the pursuit of justice comes as a cost (don't forget to include suits, parking, and expensive downtown lunches).

The Kittens - RIP, cuties.

Here are the babies. I had them for 8 days before the one on the far right died quite suddenly. Three days later the other two became sick. I worried it was distemper, and it was, and the other two died as well. They were very, very sweet kittens. In addition to that great sadness, having had kittens with distemper in my house means I can't have any more orphans; distemper lives for years at room temperature and is extremely contagious. Given my job, school, my A paper, and the bar, it was probably time to turn in my foster-badge anyway, but that only makes it marginally better.

New KITTENS!!

I will post a photo or eight when I get home, but I have three new babies and they are CUTE. Really, really, eye-bleedingly cute. They are 4-week old tabbies, one brown and two orange. And at least one of the orange ones is going to be a medium-haired kitty (I've only fostered short hairs in the past). I might have to keep her. :)

More on them later.

Crabless

I took the crabs back after less than two days. They needed more humidity than I could provide at work, and they were also really boring. I know, that's terrible. I've learned my lesson.

I feel like shite.

I think I'm getting sick and I'm totally not into it. My skin hurts. My head has that slightly too heavy and too large feeling about it. I'm bloated and achey and whiny! That is all.

Wait, I lied. I also have had the Heartburn of Doom for the last three days, but I finally got my prescription refilled today, so tomorrow at least my esophagus should feel a bit better.

Dufus.

Okay, I'm a total dufus. I just saw that there is a clevel little picture-looking icon that will presumably help me add a picture. Call off the firemen.
Or on second thought, let them come - that could be fun too.

Name those crabs!

I got two hermit crabs today. I needed office budies. They are in a specially-made hermit crab enclosure. It's quite small so when I stop working here I'll either pass them on to another employee or take them home and get them something more luxurious. But regardless of the future, they need names!

The large one is more reclusive - I'm thinking of calling him Hermie (like Hammy the hamster from undergrad). But the smaller one is very active . . . what should his name be?

Anyone know how to add photos on this site, or if it's even possible?

Whine.

My Business Associatons I prof. seems to be from another academic planet. Lewis and Clark is very laid back; we don't have proctors for our finals, they are almost all unscheduled, and there is no taking down of class websites to prevent us from sneaking onto them during our tests. If we wanted to cheat it would not be hard, and we could probably come up with a more efficient method than logging onto the class website and downloading old power points in the middle of a timed exam. Sheesh.

That is all. The some-sort-of-C I will be getting will not be further improved by bitching.

Mother woes.

My mom is doing this menopausal bullshit where, completely out of the blue, she will go into a wild rage and destroy everything in her path. Everything generally being my dad and me. A little crabiness on occassion is totally understandable - but flying off the handle at the innocent is not okay. Reign it in, mom! I'm a big kid now and "because I said so" doesn't work for me anymore.

I has a fancy new car.

That's right.

Little Bug Bug has gone to a new family and I am the proud owner (well, driver) of a 2007 V6 Honda Accord EXL. In shiny Morrocan Red.

Ooo la la, you say, it is so fancy!

It's a pretty amazing car for what I'm paying; actually it's a pretty amazing car, period. My only qualm is that it's freaking huge - or at least it feels that way compared to Bug Bug. I could seriously live in the back seat and pack at least three bodies into the trunk. And with my cargo tray it would be easy to clean up the mess.

I should post a picture, but I've only been using Blogger for about 9 minutes and I don't know if I can do that yet. I'll get back to you on that.

Time for my own (new) blog.

I suppose I should stop using Nick's blog one of these days. It became mine (de facto) for a year or two there, but he's still paying for it so it's probably time to cut the cord. I may go and post something there that's more happy than the latest (and six month old) post about my kitten dying, though.

Besides, the black never suited my anyway.

I have a blog on LJ but I've never really cared for it. Too teeny bopper. Or something. So here I am. All pretty in pink (maybe) and overusing parens per usual. I hope to see you around, whoever you are.
